Painting in the common hall of the Dominican priory in Lille, France

Björn was born and raised in 1955 in Gothenburg, Sweden. He studied architecture at the KTH School of Architecture in Stockholm and at the Ecole Spéciale d'Architecture in Paris. His interest in painting was awakened while working as an architect in Stockholm, and Björn has continued to cultivate that interest alongside his work as an architect. Since 2003 Björn has been working in city design in Malmö in Sweden.

In 2000 Björn become a monk in the Dominican Order of the Roman Catholic Church. As a monk, Björn has devoted himself – on his own as well as in studios in France and Sweden – to painting as a form of meditation. In lectures, at workshops and retreats, he has focused on the potential of personal creativity to yield new insights into transcendent reality, human contact with God.

Björn has exhibited his work at the Centre Culturel Agora Tête d’Or in Lyon, France, and participated in several group shows in Lund, Sweden. He has exhibited in Lund with KIL artists at Galleri G, at the Dominican Monastery and at the artists’ collective on Fabriksgatan 2. Automn 2015 Björn exhibited at Galleri Tersaeus in Stockholm.

Inspired by Zen, Björn has also led meditation groups in recent years and mentored a group of students who meet regularly in the Dominican monastery in Lund for spiritual guidance, to reflect on the significance of faith and to discuss film. After a year in the Dominican House in Helsinki, Finland ,partly consacrated to painting, Björn is 2014 returning to Lund.
